In the analog TV era, VCR tapes were used to record and store favorite TV programs. The iVDR has made it possible to save long TV series on one disk.
The recording capacity of one 500-GB iVDR is equivalent to about 186 VCR tapes*, 107 DVD-Rs** or 20 Blu-ray discs***. A long TV series saved on one disk uses very little space and is easy to search for specific episodes.

*VCR tape: 2.7 GB—calculated as equivalent to 3 Mbps x 120 minutes
**DVD-R: Single-sided, single-layer—calculated as 4.7 GB per disc
