Mr. Osamu Kunisaki, Chair of International Standardization WG (Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Japan, Ltd.) (Image: Top), has received an “International Standard Development Award” from ITSCJ: Information Technology Standards Commission of Japan in association with the publication of ISO/IEC 29171.
The international standard which was subjected to this prize is [ISO/IEC 29171:Information technology -- Digitally recorded media for information interchange and storage -- Information Versatile Disk for Removable usage (iVDR) cartridge] (JTC 1/SC 23, 2009-11-09 established).
Mr. Kunisaki received the prize for his extraordinary contribution and leadership in establishing the standard for Information Versatile Disk for Removable usage (iVDR) cartridge as a Project Editor of JTC1/SC23/WG6. The award ceremony was held at Japan Society for the Promotion of Machine Industry in Tokyo on Feb 22, 2010.
Since iVDR was approved as the international standard, it is expected to gain the international recognition, to help the market revitalization by international procurement of iVDR products and to reduce any risk to violate the antitrust laws.
